On 23 March 2017, the European Commission launched a Consumer Financial Services Action Plan for greater choice and better access to financial services across the EU. The plan aims at removing regulatory obstacles for business and supporting the development of an innovative digital world.
To develop a policy strategy for technological innovation in financial services, the Commission has opened a public consultation on FinTech for stakeholders' feedback on the impact of new technologies on the European financial services sector. The goal is to develop a regulatory and supervisory framework that delivers technological neutrality, proportionality and integrity and make the EU Single Market for financial services more competitive, inclusive and efficient.
